On August 25, 2020 the managing director of CRRC ZELC Verkehrstechnik, Mr. Chen was invited to hold a guest lecture about
“Railway Industry in China and Innovative Technologies” at the FH Technikum Wien.
The modern world is being connected more closely by transportation networks, it is important to think globally and to learn from each other.

Giving a short introduction of CRRC in China: Starting with the first workshop back in 1881 and the first Chinese steam locomotive “Rocket of China” the long company history shows the evolution of railway vehicles, as well as the development of China’s railway industry. Now, CRRC ZELC covers an area of 2.25 km2 with its large factories, high production capacities, testing platforms, scientific research laboratories etc.
Talking about the operating mileage of railway tracks in China, heavy haul and high speed tracks, growth of intercity operating mileage and future developments.
Pointing out the differences regarding the requirements and project execution in Europe.
Showing the possibilities and advantages of hybrid technology based on the Hybrid Shunting Locomotive “AZ-Lok” Project in Germany and proven applications in China, the Ultra-Capacitor Tram in Guangzhou.
Sharing our thoughts about future technologies and energy storage solutions.
